I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Mood: tired....just got in off the road....

Things I have pondered over the last week or so.....

At Hooters (for those who know of this resturaunt/fanservice chain)...if youve been to one.....have you ever noticed that out of all the Hooter waiters....only one...maybe two are actually worth leering at.....(prepares for decapitations by outside parties).....gotta love the wings though

I had recently came across a FMA poster in a SPENCERS gift store...the kind of store you get your dirty jokes and other shit in.......and I wondered....will FMA replace Inu yasha as the Most hated popular anime to anime fans around the globe.....

another thing....why is it that most aspiring artists want to portray horrifying demons and other nasty things in complete opposite of how the should be portrayed....sure it can be done...but the way I usually come across its done REALLY horrible...

Demons should be evil and scary. Happy, cute, and/or sexy demons are just fuckin' stupid! Then again, demons are just the evil versions of angels, so it may be possible. That's a topic that's hard to describe since there is no plain text to it. It's all about how you look at it. So I suppose there's really no point complaining, is there? There's nothing to complain about int the end. Damn people and they're different opinions!

Inuyasha has become so horrible and repetitive that I have resorted to changing the channel to the Cosby show during that portion of Adult Swim, just because its one channel away. And I HATE Cosby.

The last one is so true. I think you do a damn fine job portraying your horrifying creatures as just that: horrifying and powerful.

On your last point, I think those artists like the whole sexy quality of being totally scary/powerful/shocking - but in the end, they chicken out on the other qualities- like pure evil- because if they identify with their work a lot, then they'd be saying some pretty scary things about themselves. Does that make sense? After all, no one sees their own self as the bad guy. I notice really nifty dark imagery tends to be drawn well by artists who can seperate themselves from the work- or view it as a cathartic exercise.
